Molds are a category of micro-organisms called Fungi that also include mushrooms and yeasts. They are eukaryotic, multi-celled organisms and are present almost everywhere. If we keep things dry, mold will not grow. Trouble begins with excessive humidity or moisture. Mold infestation can originate from sudden water releases, like a pipe burst, appliance line break, toilet overflow, or such chronic conditions as leaking roofs, slab leaks and rusted plumbing. High humidity and condensation can also trigger mold problems.
The USmold procedure of Mold Remediation is complete and eliminates all strains of Mold and Mildew, Guaranteed. This procedure has many steps. 1) Stop the moisture at its source. 2) Make sure the affected area is contained, sealed-off from the rest of the structure. 3) All salvageable items are removed and unsalvageable items are discarded. 4) The remaining affected area is then thoroughly dried. 5) Any visible Mold growth would then be vacuumed with a Hepa machine, capturing micro mold particles.
Indoor mold can trigger allergies or allergy like symptoms affecting the upper respiratory system. Other, more serious problems may occur if people are exposed to very high levels of mold. The most common complaints are:
- nasal and sinus congestion
- cough
- wheeze/breathing difficulties
- sore throat
- skin and eye irritation
- upper respiratory infections (including sinus infections)
- The effect of mold on can vary widely with different people, but it is never good, and long-term exposure to high levels of indoor mold may eventually cause health concerns.
The following groups of people are at an elevated risk:
- infants, children and the elderly
- individuals with respiratory conditions or sensitivities such as severe indoor allergies and asthma
- persons with weakened immune systems (for example, people with HIV infection, chemotherapy patients, organ transplant recipients)
USmold recommends that you consult a Doctor if you feel any health reaction to your indoor air environment.
As we’ve covered, most molds need moisture, or simply humidity, to exist and colonize. It can take as little as 24 hours for this process to begin. Molds grow even after the moisture has dried up. Some can even colonize in these very dry conditions, others can colonize under a wide range of moisture levels, and some colonize only at high moisture levels. Molds typically grow on construction materials such as wood, gypsum, fiberboard, plasterboard, drywall, stucco and many types of insulation materials.
Artemis BioSolutions is USmold’s preferred weapon in the fight against mold. The EPA has accepted Artemis BioSolutions's Label for its Artemis BioSolutions formulation. When used as directed, Artemis BioSolutions exhibits effective disinfectant activity against the organisms: Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella choleraesuis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and meets the stringent requirements for hospital use. Artemis BioSolutions has demonstrated to be a fungicidal against pathogenic fungal spores (Trichophyton mentagrophytes).
Testing has established this formulation as effective in direct tests against fungal spores. Artemis BioSolutions is an effective mildewstat and fungicidal against mold and mold spores. Artemis BioSolutions formulation can be used in commercial and residential applications.
USmold Uses Artemis BioSolutions, a highly effective decontaminant, fungicide, disinfectant and cleaner. Artemis BioSolutions preserves and protects treated construction materials from microbial degradation and deterioration. Artemis BioSolutions is ideal for treating, cleaning, restoring, deodorizing, sealing, repelling moisture, and providing surfaces that become mold, mildew and fungus resistant. It is also a highly effective agent against microbial volatile organic compounds and mycotoxins, mold by-products that are allergenic and toxigenic.
